The SHTA Gastronomic Division, which includes the Friendly Island Chef's Association, along with SHTA staff organized the fourth Annual Taste of St. Martin culinary competition in preparation for the Taste of the Caribbean 2008. Both Dutch & French chefs, 18 in total, competed for medals. Herve Sageot of Ti Provencial Successfully defended his title of Chef of the Year, and now shares the crown with multi-year contestant Stephane Decluseau of L’Astrolabe. Mickael Geffroy once again has been named Pastry Chef of the Year and Jean Rene Le Trocquer of Tai Chi Restaurant has been crowned the new Bartender of the Year. The event was a huge success and the SHTA would like to thank all their sponsors and members that have supported the event.
